AECOM-Led JV Lands $700M Extension to Hanford Site Waste Storage Mgmt Contract; John Vollmer Quoted

TYSONS CORNER, VA, November 21, 2018 — An AECOM (NYSE: ACM) joint venture with Atkins Nuclear Secured has received a $700M extension on an Energy Department contract to manage waste storage at the decommissioned Hanford site nuclear production complex in Washington state, GovCon Wire reported Oct. 31.

The Washington River Protection Solutions JV will continue to oversee radioactive and chemical waste storage tank operations at the DOE facility through Sept. 20, 2019, AECOM said Oct. 30.

John Vollmer, president of AECOM’s management services group and a three-time Wash100 awardee, said the company will build on its experience in radioactive waste management to fulfill work under the contract in support of Washington’s Tri-Cities.
