BAE Systems Secures $4.8B Contract to Build 3 Type 26 Combat Ships for UK

TYSONS CORNER, VA, July 5, 2017 — BAE Systems will manufacture the first three ships for the U.K. defense ministry’s Type 26 Global Combat Ship program under a potential $4.8 billion contract, GovCon Wire reported Monday.

The company said Sunday the contract will facilitate the sustainment of more than 3,400 jobs and will involve work at its shipbuilding facility in Scotland.
