TYSONS CORNER, VA, Dec. 15, 2016 — The State Department has cleared a potential $1.7 billion foreign military sale of equipment and components for Kuwait’s General Dynamics-built (NYSE: GD) Abrams M1A2 battle tanks, GovCon Wire reported Wednesday.
The proposed deal includes M2A1 and M240 machine guns, N/VRC-92E SINCGARS radios and AN/PVS-7B night-vision goggles for 218 Abrams tanks as part of a recapitalization program, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.
DSCA also named DRS TechnologiesHoneywell (NYSE: HON), Kongsberg Defense SystemsLockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Meggitt Defense SystemsMiltopeNorthrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) as primary contractors on the potential transaction.
