Government contracting firms and executive leaders started to get a glimpse this week of what fiscal year 2016 could look like with the release of the White House’s FY 2016 budget request.
The request rounds out to a total of nearly $4 trillion, would increase spending for both defense and domestic programs and comes as sequestration once again looms large over both the GovCon sector and their agency partners.
Congress moved in December 2013 to limit some of the sequester cuts previously set for fiscal years 2014 and 2015 and the Congressional Budget Office has said sequestration would not be needed in FY 2015 as outlined by budget caps.
Three congressional committees in both chambers are scheduled to hold hearings on the budget request this week to kick off the legislative process.
The Potomac Officers Club will turn its attention on February 11 to the “Big Data & Analytics Visualization” summit, where a panel and audience of executives tackle the methods federal agencies could adopt to manage growing volumes of information.
A group of leaders from industry and government will speak to the GovCon executive audience on emerging trends in data analytics and areas of collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Speakers scheduled to appear at the summit include:
- David Bottom, director of NGA’s IT services directorate
- Mark Choiniere, director of NGA’s advanced development office
- Shaun Connolly, VP of corporate strategy at Hortonworks
- Roger Hockenberry, co-founder & CEO of Cognito
- David Jimenez, CTO at NRO
