The intimate access afforded by these interviews provides insight as to how companies are acquiring new business, what the future holds and the personal side of GovCon executives.
This past week, ExecutiveBiz published two spotlights with executives in the GovCon market.
The first conversation was with Bob Kipps, who serves as a managing partner at KippsDeSanto.
The 20-year industry vet provides financial and M&A consulting to defense and technology firms and has has advised on over 100 transactions totaling more than $10 billion in deal value.
In the conversation he had with ExecutiveBiz, Kipps dicussed American Systems’ acquisition of SAIC‘s T&E business, and the role his company played in the purchase.
“American Systems was already doing T&E work and so it was a great fit.  The SAIC T&E business was a very well regarded, major player in the T&E business.  American Systems was a participant in the business but they are a leader in that business.  It was more similar to the PwC and Ray Group where they were already in T&E and this makes them a major player.”

Another spotlight was conducted with Dave Hansen of SafeNet which focused on the company’s decision to sell its government solutions unit to Raytheon.
“We are still in that space, we still work with many of the government agencies and we will continue to do,” Hansen said. “We divested a piece that wasn’t exactly our growth trajectory plan.”
Hansen was a general manager at BMC Software abefore he was announced as the new CEO of SafeNet in December.
“I wouldn’t be in a hurry to be out there buying a lot of net new technology, especially hardware and data centers when I can deploy things in the cloud with different cloud infrastructure and service providers,” Hansen added.
