Hello, Guest!

ExecutiveGov covered a number of important news stories in the past week concerning the federal government.
This release will look at two of the most important articles published, specifically the government executives that were focused on in the pieces.
As the Defense Department approaches the March deadline to address sequestration, Pentagon comptroller Robert Hale said they are preparing for more budget cuts.
Hale told an audience at the Brookings institution that the new automatic sequester would mean a 9 percent or $45 billion cut to the Pentagon’s budget.
He also said the Pentagon could reduce funds in long-term investment rather than wartime operations if Congress gives the DoD that option.

In other government news making headlines this week, the Republican Senator from Kentucky, Mitch McConnell, said that Republicans in Congress are done with any tax increases and simply want to focus on spending cuts.
President Obama has warned Republicans that resistance on increasing the debt-limit would have disastrous results on the economy and that he wants separate discussions on spending and entitlements.
The Kentucky lawmaker forecast that debates on spending will occupy Congress for the next two or three months resulting in other issues, such as gun control, being put aside for now.
